Heather Satterley, CPA
Director of Education and Media
My journey in accounting has been anything but ordinary. Through a career that spans decades, my goal has always been to be more than a number-cruncher; I aim to be a catalyst for innovation, a driver for efficiency, and, above all, a mentor. Currently, I hold the position of Director of Education and Media at Woodard Events, LLC, where I amplify my role as an educator and thought leader in accounting and technology. My articles in The Woodard Report reach over 20,000 accounting professionals in the U.S. and Canada, covering a broad spectrum of topics from accounting technology to change leadership and innovation. When I'm not writing or strategizing, you'll find me as the co-host of the Appy Hour with Heather Satterley and Liz Scott, where we dissect the latest trends in accounting technology over some metaphorical cocktails. My interest is in artificial intelligence, no-code automation, emerging technologies, and global collaboration. These are not just buzzwords to me; they are the building blocks of a future-ready accounting firm. The future belongs to those who are ready to adapt, and I find immense satisfaction in helping firms transition into this new era of accounting. Located in the scenic vistas of Rhode Island, my downtime often involves spending time with my horse, Marley. The discipline, focus, and respect for the process that comes with working with horses also translate into my professional ethos. Leading with kindness, compassion, and empathy, I strive to make the professional journey less about the destination and more about meaningful growth for everyone involved. Let's connect if you're interested in innovative accounting practices, building a resilient community of professionals, or simply looking for some inspiration to shake things up in your own career. Here's to the future—one where accounting is not just a business necessity but a tool for strategic decision-making.
