The Scaling New Heights educational conference, themed: "Transcend the Machines", will return to the Orlando Marriott World Center on June 27-30 for 2027.
While AI can do many of the entry-level tasks associated with accounting, bookkeeping and tax preparation, it cannot (ever) replace the 'human element', that 'human connection', that the professional accountant, bookkeeper or tax preparer develops with their client(s). No matter how sophisticated AI becomes, or how 'agentic the AI agents' perform, they lack (and always will) "humanity" in their code-core.
Joe Woodard, has developed many of his conference themes based on 'sci-fi' interpretations of the future of humanity, like "the rise of the machines." And, while it seems evident that AI will in fact assume many traditional roles that have been performed by entry- and (some) mid- level personnel, the "professional" aspects of the accounting, bookkeeping and tax preparation professions is reliant on that unique bond that human communications brings to the table.
Joe promises that his 2027 conference will be 'packed' with technology of the profession, including a wealth of AI, the conference will focus on developing the professional by enhancing the human skills of those practicing the profession. It is only through developing greater understanding of the needs of our clients, focusing on those needs, and providing humanistic solutions for those clients will we as a profession, "transcend the machines."
