QuickBooks Price Hikes

Intuit has just announced price increases impacting QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Online Payroll, QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.  

Price Changes Coming to QuickBooks Online and Online Payroll

Intuit reports they are investing more in innovation to provide more powerful QuickBooks Online products to deliver more efficient ways to help you run and grow your business. This will include AI-based automation built into QBO workflows, better collaboration tools between accountants and their clients, and a new customizable interface with more business tools and 3rd-party apps to make it possible to perform critical jobs all from within QuickBooks. The pricing changes reflects the 'value' of recent and upcoming innovations. 

QuickBooks Online

Intuit is increasing the subscription rates for the most widely used QuickBooks Online subscriptions (Simple Start, Essentials, Plus, and Advanced). Currently, rates are not rising for either QuickBooks Ledger or Intuit Enterprise Suite. The following rate changes are impacted, and all rates reflect the monthly subscription rates.

QBO Simple Start: Increasing to $38 from $35 (per month).

QBO Essentials: Increasing to $75 from $65 (per month).

QBO Plus: Increasing to $115 from $99 (per month).

QBO Advanced: Increasing to $275 from $235 (per month).

These subscription rates will change as of July 1, 2025, for all new and existing 'client-billed' subscriptions. The subscription rates will begin on August 1, 2025, for all existing accountant-billed subscriptions.

QuickBooks Online Payroll

 The subscription rates for Core, Premium, and Elite payroll will change to the following monthly rate structure:

QBO Core Payroll: No change in the $50 (per month) base rates, but the per-employee rate increases to $6.50 from $6.00 per month.

QBO Premium Payroll: Increasing to $88 plus $10 per employee (per month) from $85 + $9 per employee (per month).

QBO Elite Payroll: Increasing to $134 plus $12 per employee (per month) from $130 + $11 per employee (per month).

These subscription rates will change as of July 1, 2025, for all new and existing 'client-billed' subscriptions. The subscription rates will begin on August 1, 2025 for all existing accountant-billed subscriptions.


What's Happening with QuickBooks Desktop

First, Intuit reiterated in the May 27, announcement that they would continue to renew existing Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, Mac Plus, and Enhanced Payroll subscriptions even though they are no longer selling 'new' subscriptions to those products.  

Second, they are encouraging all existing QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, and Mac Plus subscribers to transition to QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise, which includes payroll. 

Third, they announced new pricing for QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, Mac Plus, QuickBooks Desktop Accountant (including applicable Desktop ProAdvisor Bundles), and QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise-integrated payroll(Gold, Platinum, and Diamond), as well as QuickBooks Desktop Payroll options.

Note: All prices shown below are annual subscription amounts (unless otherwise noted as 'monthly' or 'per month'. 

QuickBooks Desktop Plus (Pro, Premier, Mac)

QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus: Increasing to $1049 + $310 per user-seat (per year) from $999 + $200 per user-seat (per year).

QuickBooks Desktop Premier Plus: Increasing to $1469 + $465 per user-seat (per year) from $1399 + $300 per user-seat (per year).

QuickBooks Desktop Mac Plus: Increasing to $1049 + $310 per user-seat (per year) from $999 + $200 per user-seat (per year).

These subscription rates will be updated starting October 1, 2025, for all subscriptions.

QuickBooks Desktop Accountant (including ProAdvisor Bundles)

QuickBooks Desktop Accountant: Increasing to $1799 single-user (per year) from $1199 single-user (per year).

QuickBooks Desktop Premier ProAdvisor Bundle: Increasing to $1499 single-user (per year) from $999 single-user (per year).

QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise ProAdvisor Bundle: Increasing to $2399 single-user (per year) from $1599 single-user (per year).

These subscription rates will be updated starting October 1, 2025, for all subscriptions.

QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise (Gold, Platinum, Diamond)

QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 'Gold': No change in Enterprise subscription rate, see related payroll price changes below.

QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 'Platinum': No change in Enterprise subscription rate, see related payroll price changes below.

QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 'Diamond': No change in Enterprise subscription rate, see related payroll price changes below.

QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise Integrated Payroll (Gold, Platinum, Diamond)

QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 'Gold' integrated Payroll: Currently, there is NO per-employee cost. Increasing to $3/employee/month for 1-9 employees, $2.50/employee/month for 10-29 employees, $1.50/employee/month for 30-99 employees, $1.00/employee/month for 100-219 employees, and $0.00/employee/month for 220 or more employees. 

QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 'Platinum' integrated Payroll: Currently, there is NO per-employee cost. Increasing to $3/employee/month for 1-9 employees, $2.50/employee/month for 10-29 employees, $1.50/employee/month for 30-99 employees, $1.00/employee/month for 100-219 employees, and $0.00/employee/month for 220 or more employees.

While the rate changes take effect on August 1, 2025, QuickBooks Enterprise Gold and Platinum customers who use payroll will see the changes starting on their next renewal date. Their per-employee fee will be billed monthly, based on the number of unique employees paid.

QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 'Diamond' integrated Payroll: Increasing to $2.50/employee/month from $1.50/employee/month.

QuickBooks Enterprise Diamond customers who use payroll starting August 1, 2025. Their per-employee fee will continue to be billed on a per-pay-period basis.

QuickBooks Desktop Payroll - Current and Legacy Products

Price changes will impact some aspects of both current and legacy QuickBooks Desktop Payroll products.

QuickBooks Desktop Payroll (Basic, Enhanced, Assisted)

QuickBooks Desktop Basic Payroll: Increasing to $580 per year ($58/month) + $7 per employee/month from $550 per year ($55/mo.) + $7/EE/mo.

QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll: Increasing to $740 per year ($74/month) + $7 per employee/month from $700 per year ($70/mo.) + $7/EE/mo.

QuickBooks Desktop Assisted Payroll: Increasing to $126 per month + $2.50 per employee/month from $120 per month + $ 2.50/EE/mo.

These subscription rates will be updated starting October 1, 2025, for all subscriptions.

QuickBooks Desktop Legacy Payroll Renewal Subscriptions

QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll (1-3) Employees Legacy Renewals: Increasing to $900 per year ($90/month) + $5 per direct deposit from $850 per year ($85 per month) + $5 per direct deposit. 

QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll (Unlimited) Employees Legacy Renewals: Increasing to $1160 per year ($116/month) + $5 per direct deposit from $1100 per year ($110 per month) + $5 per direct deposit. 

These subscription rates will be updated starting December 1, 2025, for all subscriptions.
