QuickBooks Desktop 2022 Sunsets Tomorrow

"So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye...1"

Insightful Accountant wants to remind you that the "clock is ticking, " ALL QuickBooks Desktop 2022 Products will be 'sunsetting' tomorrow.

Intuit will no longer provide security patches, product updates, or customer support for any QuickBooks Desktop 2022 versions starting June 1, 2025. These products include 2022 Pro-Plus, 2022 Premier-Plus (all versions), QuickBooks 2022 Desktop Accountant, QuickBooks Enterprise (v 22), QuickBooks Enterprise Accountant (v 22), and QuickBooks 2022 Desktop for Mac-Plus .

This means your QuickBooks 2022 financial data, regardless of specific SKU, could be exposed to security vulnerabilities.

Product sunset also means that your 2022 QuickBooks version(s) will no longer be able to use add-in Intuit features, functions, or solutions, including, but not limited to, QuickBooks Desktop Payroll versions, Desktop Payments, or online bank feeds. The following functional areas (listed here in alphabetical order) will likely be impacted and may work properly (or even run at all):

  • Accountant-copy Transfer-services
  • Assisted payroll
  • Contributed reports
  • Direct Deposit
  • eInvoicing
  • Intuit QuickBooks Email
  • Merchant account deposits
  • Multi-currency Exchange-rates
  • Online Backup/Data Protection
  • Online Banking
  • Payment(s) processing
  • QuickBooks Workforce
  • Recurring payments
  • Workers' Compensation

Intuit is also encouraging all 2022 Desktop users to ensure they install the latest Release update available before the scheduled product's end-of-life date, which is tomorrow, May 31, 2025.

While Intuit presently supports subscription renewals for existing 'active' QuickBooks Desktop Plus customers, they are encouraging customers to migrate from Pro-Plus, Premier-Plus, or Mac-Plus to either QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise or an Online version of QuickBooks.

Before Migrating Your Data to Any Other Version, Solution, or Product!!!

Are YOU prepared for the product sunset?

  1. If you have not already migrated to an alternative product, please be sure to BACKUP all of your QuickBooks 2022 Company Data files before you try to make any such migration(s).
  2. Preserve those Backups in a safe location, such as a flash drive or an alternate hard drive, when you can be certain that the data is preserved (archived) and protected from corruption during the process of migrating your live data files.
  3. Do NOT rely on the backup or archived copy that a newer version of QuickBooks reportedly makes during the process of converting your Company Data file from QuickBooks 2022; create your own Backup using the internal Backup feature before making any migration attempt.
  4. Make sure to also 'Verify' and, if necessary, 'Rebuild' your Company Data file before making the BACKUP copies I referenced in the prior paragraph.
  5. Do NOT convert your QuickBooks 2022 product to a newer QuickBooks product; install any newer QuickBooks product in a new unique directory on your computer without compromising the existing installation.  Furthermore, do NOT remove your QuickBooks 2022 product until you have assured yourself that the updated/migrated data from QuickBooks 2022 is correct in your new product version (regardless of platform). You may need to restore your Backup to continue working in QuickBooks 2022 until you can resolve any issues with data corruption or loss during product migration
