William "Bill" Murphy is a retired Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor who now serves as a part-time contributing technical writer for Insightful Accountant, an e-magazine covering the accounting technology ecosystem since 2013.
Known affectionately as "Murph," Bill has been assisting small businesses worldwide with QuickBooks since 1989. His consulting expertise includes resolving QuickBooks technical issues, such as data file analysis and repair. As a highly recognized Sybase Database Professional, he earned a reputation as a 'data detective' for his unparalleled ability to identify and correct QuickBooks data corruption errors.
With over 40 years of financial and teaching experience, Bill holds both Bachelor's and Master's degrees. He has served as an Adjunct Instructor for Oklahoma City Community College Professional Development and has instructed thousands of ProAdvisors at major conferences, events, and webinars.
Bill has contributed significantly to the field through his editorial work. He was the Technical Editor for "Business Analysis with QuickBooks" by Wiley Publishing (2009) and a technical contributor for the "Managing Your QuickBooks Database" section in Laura Madeira's "QuickBooks 2012 In Depth" (and subsequent 2013 and 2014 editions) published by QUE.
In recognition of his contributions, Bill was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award during Scaling New Heights 2018 by Joe Woodard, the conference host, and Gary DeHart, publisher of Insightful Accountant.
