Now is the time to plan your transition to Intuit Accountant Suite

Have you heard the story of "Murph's IAS Ride?" "Listen, my children, and you shall hear of Murph's ongoing ride shouting," IAS is coming, IAS is coming!" (Longfellow has nothing on me...)

That's right, if it seems like you have read similar stories to today's headline, you have... I am shouting it from the rooftops, I am shouting it along the roadside, and I am shouting it within these articles..."Intuit Accountant Suite (IAS) is coming, Intuit Accountant Suite is coming." And, of course, that's not quite true, in reality "Intuit Accountant Suite is already here." You can learn more about IAS by downloading Intuit's 8-page PDF Introductory Guide to IAS HERE

But, on December 31, 2026, QuickBooks Online Accountant will be sunset (the word Intuit has chosen for years to mean 'discontinued.') and that means you had best be ready to use Intuit Accountant Suite once QBOA (as it has become popular to call it) is gone forever.  Yet I encourage you not to wait until year's end to adopt Intuit Accountant Suite, now is the time to plan your transition from QBO-Accountant to IAS.

IAS-critical dates (revised)

Because switching as soon as possible means you not only have more time to learn the enhancements, improvements and slight cosmetic differences between QBO-Accountant and IAS, but you also have the opportunity to try premium features like IAS 'Accelerate' and 'Books Close' at no cost during the 'Beta trial' period which has been extended until January 19, 2027. During this Beta trial period you will not be charged for either 'Accelerate' or 'Books Close.' But you also need to make yourself aware of the related costs for both the 'Accelerate' version of IAS and the 'Books Close' add-on feature, and the chart below outlines those prices as Intuit has supplied them in various official publications. I've previously written about opting-in (transitioning) your QBO-Accountant to Intuit Accountant Suite, so I'm not going to repeat myself to outline those steps. I've also previously written about migrating 'realms' which is the process of migrating multiple QBO-Accountant accounts into a single Intuit Accountant Suite, although recently Intuit started referring to this as 'console consolidation.'  You can learn more about 'console consolidation' from Intuit's 3-page PDF Console Consolidation Guide HERE.

And, while Intuit is providing an entire self-paced learning path on Intuit Accountant Suite within the ProAdvisor Academy to help you prepare for your transition to, and use of, IAS, they are also starting a series of webinars July 21 through September 15 on making the most of Intuit Accountant Suite within your practice whether you have a small firm, or a mega-firm.

The webinar series covers 'onboarding your firm to IAS' on July 21 at 10 AM Pacific time, Building (or growing) your Advisory services using IAS-Accelerate on July 30 at 10 AM Pacific time, the new ProPartner program and how it integrates with IAS on August 17 at 10 AM Pacific time, the newest IAS features on August 27 at 10 AM Pacific time, and wraps up with a fireside chat with Partner Council Accountants on IAS and your practice on September 15 at 10 AM Pacific time. If you are interested in "leveling up your practice with Intuit Accountant Suite" you can learn more, and register for this webinar series HERE.  Level-up-with-IAS_Summer-Fall_2026

So, while I will continue my ride shouting, "IAS is coming", I encourage you to accept my call to action and start your transition from QuickBooks Online-Accountant to Intuit Accountant Suite as soon as possible. In fact, "why not today!"
