Ecosystem Enlightenment: Books Backup
Books Backup creates a complete, audit-ready archive of your QuickBooks Online company before you cancel your QBO subscription.
While it sounds great that QuickBooks keeps cancelled accounts accessible in read-only mode for 12 months; the truth is that a QBO users' tax and business records may need to be retained for up to seven years. Unfortunately, the standard QuickBooks data exports can leave out some records, like any attachments as well as the audit log.
On the other hand, Books Backup preserves the QBO data and records a user may need in one organized, downloadable archive. The Books Backup includes a QBO users' general ledger by year, reports in both cash and accrual basis, receipts and attachments linked to any transactions, reconciliation reports, the audit log, and a verification report. Reports are exported directly from QuickBooks in their original PDF and Excel formats—not recreated through limited API access.
QuickBooks Integration
Books Backup integrates with all the QuickBooks Online SKUs (aka: versions) and supports QBO for the United States, Canada, Rest of Americas, Europe, Middle East/Africa, Asia Pacific and Rest-of-world (Global) country versions.
Books Backup works with QuickBooks Online through a standard accountant-user invitation. The user grants temporary access to their QuickBooks company, allowing us to securely review, export, organize, and verify the records needed for the archive. No software installation is required, and the user can then remove the access granted to Books Backup once the archive is complete.
Please note that Books Backup is currently 'QuickBooks Online' specific, it does not presently support Xero, or any other accounting platform.
How the Books Backup Works
Books Backup is really intended to be a one-time backup of your QuickBooks Online company file(s). The Developer designed Books Backup to provide users with a method to create an archive of the user's QBO file should they need to produce a copy for analytical or audit purposes, as well as the user intended to cancel their QBO subscription.
Books Backup connects to a user’s QuickBooks Online company through a "temporary" accountant-user invitation. Once that connection is made, Books Backup exports and organizes the company’s key financial reports, attachments, reconciliation reports, audit log, and supporting records into a complete archive.
Before the archived data is delivered to the user, the archived data is verified against the live QuickBooks file.

Following verification, the client receives a downloadable package of PDF and Excel reports that can be used for analysis, audit, or simply as a stored accessible version of their QBO file data, be stored in the even that the QuickBooks subscription is cancelled.
