App Aware - Erplain and Stockpit

Today, you get "two, two, two App Aware (features) in one." You might remember a similar chime from 'certs.'

Yes, I am going to strive to make you 'app aware' of both Erplain and Stockpit. Both of these inventory solutions are products of Erplain, based in Meylan, France, a country in Europe renowned for its wine, champagne, food, fashion, and the Eiffel Tower. (They also have North American offices in Canada.) France would make a good trip for one of my Sales Tax Trip Tuesday episodes, but I don't think it's on the list of states I'm supposed to be covering.

Nevertheless, this feature will hopefully make you aware of these two apps you might not have previously known much about.  These two products are designed for small to medium-sized businesses that need to track their inventory and manage inventory-related orders. Such companies might include eCommerce sellers with or without brick-and-mortar retail shops, wholesalers and distributors (most likely with warehouses for inventory), and perhaps light manufacturing with inventory on hand.

Erplain is designed to be a standalone inventory and order management software that can integrate with Shopify and QuickBooks. SMBs can manage their entire sales cycle (estimates, sales orders, shipping orders, invoices), create multiple price levels (price rules, price lists, and multi-currency inventory values), reserve inventory for customers' orders, and benefit from advanced inventory management features such as multi-location tracking, traceability, or assemblies.

Stockpit, on the other hand, is an inventory add-on for QuickBooks. Users typically handle their sales and purchases within QuickBooks, and Stockpit provides them with the ability to control their inventory by adding features such as multi-location tracking, traceability, assemblies (for light manufacturing), and stock allocation.

App Comparison and Contrast

If you compare and contrast Erplain and Stockpit against other products of a similar type, designed for similar applications, and providing similar functionality, you would likely turn your attention to SOS Inventory and Zoho Inventory. If you decide to explore Erplain and Stockpit further, after reading this App Aware, you should likely take the list of key features below and compare/contrast those with the SOS and Zoho Apps.

More about working with QuickBooks

Typically, QuickBooks (Online) users would be working with QBO Essentials, QBO Plus, or QBO Advanced. Both Erplain and Stockpit support the U.S., Canadian, European, Asia-Pacific, Middle East/Africa, and Rest-of-World (Global) versions of QuickBooks.  At present, neither Erplain nor Stockpit integrates with or supports any flavor of Xero.

When integrated with QuickBooks, Inventory is automatically updated with each sale or purchase. Similarly, products, customers, and suppliers are synced in real time with QuickBooks. Your Invoices and Purchase orders can be automatically generated in QuickBooks from Erplain.

For more details about the integration of Erplain with QuickBooks Online, check out their "How the QuickBooks Integration Works" support guide. You can also watch their YouTube video on the synchronizations.

Stockpit adds depth to the level of products and services available within QuickBooks Online, including inventory parts. It provides a complete line of inventory features, including multi-location tracking, traceability, assemblies (for minor manufacturing), and stock allocation when creating shipping orders. Users will continue to manage their sales within QBO, but all products, customers, and invoices synchronize with Stockpit. Sales and purchase orders are automatically posted from QuickBooks to Stockpit.

You can find a support guide covering more details about Stockpit's integration with QBO in their "How do Stockpit and QBO work together". A YouTube video covering the integration between the two is also available.
