Xero Brings Live Financial Data into ChatGPT and Claude
Small business owners and their advisors shouldn’t have to navigate a complex web of tools and workflows to manage their finances. What they do need is a trusted, real-time view of their financial data and the power to act on that information without constantly jumping between apps and systems.
Xero is committed to helping our 5 million customers bring their live financial data into the tools they already use every day, making it easier to turn financial insights into confident decisions.
Meeting Customers Where They Work
That is why Xero has announced they are expanding their partnership with Anthropic with the release of their new Claude for Small Business workflows and integrations. Additionally, Xero'snew Xero plugin in OpenAI’s ChatGPT is also now live. These developments build on Xero’s AI integrations with Claude (launched in May) and their growing connections across Microsoft 365 apps which will soon include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Copilot Cowork.
These latest integrations enable small businesses and their advisors to access their financial information across the tools they work in every day, with Xero as the trusted financial operating system at the center. Every answer is built on live Xero data rather than an export, so everyone is working with the current numbers, and the review step and final judgement stay with the accountant and the business owner.
Accountants and bookkeepers can use these integrations today, working in one client organisation at a time with the same live Xero data and the same supported workflows their clients have. Month-end preparation, recurring reports, and a cash flow snapshot become a first pass to review rather than a blank page, whether that first pass is run by the business owner or by the advisor working in the client’s file. Coming soon, advisors will also be able to move between a practice’s client organisations without reconnecting each time.
Xero and Claude for Small Business
Through Xero’s new integration with Claude for Small Business, Claude can now retrieve supported Xero data, work through defined calculations and workflow steps, and return clean information ready for review by accountants, bookkeepers, and small business owners.
While the Xero connector in Claude gives small businesses and their advisors answers to financial questions based on live Xero data, Xero in Claude for Small Business helps them prepare a first pass at the work behind those questions so they can validate results, apply their unique expertise and judgement, and make the final decision on what happens next.
Xero will support Claude for Small Business financial workflows like business pulse, overdue invoice chasing, cash flow snapshot, AP preparation, month-end preparation, and recurring reports or briefs.
Customers can register here for a webinar co-hosted by Xero and Anthropic on October 27, 2026, where they will learn more about how Xero works in Claude for Small Business.
Xero in ChatGPT
First announced at Xerocon US, the new Xero plugin in OpenAI’s ChatGPT is now live. This integration, powered by JAX, enables small businesses, accountants and bookkeepers to use their Xero data throughout ChatGPT, including Chat, Work, and Codex.
Customers can ask questions, get financial insights, and build their own workflows directly in ChatGPT using real-time Xero data across profit & loss, balance sheet, invoices and bills, and more. With every interaction connecting back to Xero, small businesses and accountants can review the first pass at the work, apply their judgement, and have proactive conversations about their business’s finances before making final decisions.
Xero’s commitment to Accountable Intelligence
Xero’s AI innovation is grounded in Accountable Intelligence and powered by the Xero OS. This AI-native operating system connects layers of data and applies decades of deep domain context to provide the critical harness – the governance, controls, and permissions built on decades of financial data and expertise – that enables Xero to deliver AI businesses can trust.
While AI can make financial information easier to access, its value depends on current, clean books from accountants and bookkeepers — and it’s the advisor who interprets and advises on that information.
Live Xero data directly in these AI productivity suites helps give small businesses and accountants a stronger foundation for the tasks and conversations that matter: interpreting the numbers, shaping the reports, applying their judgement, and advising their clients on what to do next. These integrations meet Xero customers where they are, with data they trust, in tools they love.
