It may have taken 14 years, but the new QuickBooks has arrived with lots of new slogans. "Automation where it counts, Human when it matters." "Your workload, unloaded."
Yes, I 'opted in' on my personal QuickBooks Account.
The new QuickBooks offers streamlined navigation with improved search and an enhanced 'Business feed.' While you will find new 'Intuit AI agents' (agentic AI) throughout much of the new experience, it is the 'business feed' where you can expect to interact with these new agents much of the time.
Within this new Business feed you can see the work being performed by the various AI Agents, which post updates for your review and approval (when needed). Soon, you will be able to not only see current AI Agent activities, but also view a complete history of the actions each of the AI Agents has taken.
There is also a new Customer Hub featuring CRM functionality, where the Customer Agent can spot leads and streamline follow-up, as well as updated, customizable reports.
While the new QuickBooks has arrived, you currently must "Opt into the new platform" to experience it, that is, until August 1, when Opt-in will be automatic; however, you will still be able to 'Opt out' after the automatic transition during August.
But, during the month of September, all QuickBooks accounts will be transitioned to the new platform even if they previously 'Opted out.' By October 1, 2025, all QuickBooks users in the United States will be on the 'new experience.'
The look of this new QuickBooks is different; all of your features are still available within the simplified navigation, accompanied by their time-saving AI Agents.
Other changes have been incorporated into the new QuickBooks, such as Bill Pay as part of your plan (although you must still activate it if you don't already have it).
You can pay your bills within QuickBooks, and schedule the payments to avoid 'late payment' within a short 3 to 5 day time frame, depending on the method of payment you choose.
However, along with the enhancements, the underlying QuickBooks remains essentially unchanged. In fact, you can still perform most of your daily tasks in precisely the same way you did previously, without any of the benefits of 'Agentic AI' if you so choose. You haven't lost any of the benefits, tools, or capabilities of QuickBooks; you've just gained automated helpers, which you can use if you wish.
Will it stay that way? Well, "the times they are a-changin'." It's taken 14 years for QuickBooks to make this major transition from the last time a totally 'new' QuickBooks was birthed. Since then, numerous enhancements have been made, so many that I doubt any single person could name them all - certainly not me.
I don't believe it will be another 14 years before we see the next 'generation' of QuickBooks. Artificial Intelligence, in all its current forms, is evolving too fast, and who knows what the next form of AI will actually be? A future version of QuickBooks will likely evolve into a tool that does 99.9% the work for you, then asks you if there is anything else you would like it to do, and then it spits out the answers to every possible question you can ask regarding your business finances.
How long will it be before then?
"I suspect not even the 'wizards' at Intuit can tell us, but I bet some AI Bot somewhere already knows the answer."
P.S. – Insightful Accountant will continue to explore the new QuickBooks to ensure you are fully aware of its functionalities and capabilities as we examine our 'live' version. Stay tuned to the QuickBooks Monday Minute and Wednesday's "What’s New in QBO” for more details.
