At tomorrow's (September 16, 2026) QBTalks show at 2:00 PM Eastern, we will be covering topics related to the migration of QuickBooks Desktop to the cloud.
While Murph will focus on Desktop clients that are right for migration to QuickBooks Online, about 90% of his presentation is applicable to QuickBooks Desktop users preparing to migrate to some other 'cloud solution.
As part of Murph's presentation he will look at building a plan that is right for each client; firmly establishing a timeline by which migration will take place, as well as the follow-up; fully understanding the needs and workflows of migration clients prior to migration; ensuring integrated applications are capable of transitioning (if they will still be required after migration); and building confidence among the Desktop users that they will ‘not be left behind’ by transitioning to “the cloud.”
Murph's focus then turns to a review of ‘essential’ Pre-migration tasks associated with preparing any QuickBooks Desktop file for migration.
Murph will also present migration methods for both QuickBooks Desktop Pro/Premier and QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise. He will emphasize the necessity for one or more ‘test migrations’ prior to the actual ‘switch-over’.
Murph then examines ‘critical’ post-migration tasks along with corrective actions for some of the most common migration errors.
Once again, while this webinar addresses focuses on migrating from QuickBooks Desktop software to a QuickBooks Online solution, 90+% of these principles apply even when a QuickBooks Desktop user chooses to migrate to an alternative cloud-based solution.
During this segment Charles Nagel and Brad Adams with Qvinci will explain why accounting firms should begin the migration process early, how to use the move to modernize client workflows, and how pairing QuickBooks Online with Qvinci can automate reporting and create scalable, higher-value advisory services. They will also discuss how they are uniquely positioned as a single-source provider for QuickBooks, Desktop-to-Online migration, and Qvinci’s reporting and analytical capabilities.
