Be On the Lookout for Better Bank Feeds

Written by William Murphy | Jul 28, 2026 4:45:00 AM

Intuit has heard your feedback and concerns over the way that the past several changes to Bank Feeds and Reconciliation have not met your expectations or needs.

As a result, the QuickBooks Online team that manages this feature functionality has worked to improve these features. They have improved its transaction-matching experience by making matches easier to find, clearer to trust, and safer to post. The updates prioritize the most likely matches, show when matching is still in progress, warn users about potential duplicates before posting, and expand the search window when nearby matches are not found.

Transaction Categorization - has gotten smarter about learning your firm and your clients' unique needs, so categorization suggestions get more accurate over time and better reflect the way your firm works. QuickBooks will also identify suggested matches with a higher degree of confidence and bring the most likely match to the top, reducing the need to scan through a longer list of possibilities. The system is expected to learn more quickly after a user categorizes a similar transaction, allowing suggestions to refresh faster while working through a batch.

The rules engine now detects and flags conflicting rules that could apply to the same transaction, rather than simply applying the first matching rule. This is especially useful for users managing rules across multiple clients because it exposes hidden conflicts in their rule sets.

Bank Feeds Review Signals – makes it easier to see which AI-powered categorizations and vendor suggestions need review. New duplicate or conflicting flags are also intended to prompt the user to review and correct a potential issue rather than simply applying whichever suggestion appears first. Duplicate warnings are expected to appear before a transaction is posted rather than afterward.

Together, these changes scheduled for rollout not later than the end of August (depending on your own production subscription update cycle) should reduce manual entry, prevent avoidable errors, and help users categorize bank transactions and complete reconciliations faster and with greater confidence.
