For project-based businesses, there is often a delay between project activity and its financial impact. That gap can make it harder to spot margin issues until after the work is already underway.

QuickBooks Online Advanced gives clients a clearer view of business performance, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, and other reports as their needs grow.

Construction financial capabilities are now included in QBO Advanced at no additional cost. These features support budgets by phase, AIA-style progress billing, change order management, and WIP over/underbilling reporting, helping clients keep job costs, billing, and profitability connected to the books.

Job costing tools also allow clients to track time and expenses by project and review profitability as work progresses. This makes it easier to see when a project may need attention before issues become harder to correct.

Create AIA-style invoices tied to phases, costs, and milestones, so every draw request reflects completed work in a format designed to meet typical general contractor and lender needs.

These capabilities can also apply to other job-based businesses, including consulting, architecture, agencies, and professional services. They support phase- or team-based budgets tied to estimates, cost tracking against budget, and milestone-based invoicing from the project record.

QBO-Accountant users can monitor performance with customizable reports and share relevant updates with stakeholders when needed.

A spending roadmap can also help connect day-to-day decisions with broader business goals. WIP reports flag drift early, so you can make changes before it’s too late.

Project Management AI can compare budgets with actuals and flag projects that may be trending over budget. It can also help generate estimates from project details and historical data, which may make proposals more consistent across similar engagements.

For firms advising project-based clients, this can shift the discussion from reviewing results after the fact to identifying issues while there is still time to respond.
