Intuit has just announced a major expansion of what small businesses can do through its QuickBooks connector in Claude and plugin within ChatGPT, moving beyond read-only access to financial data and enabling customers to complete more work directly via AI conversations.
A business owner could ask the QuickBooks connector while in Claude to create, review, and send an invoice for a customer—without switching tools. Or a business owner could ask the QuickBooks plugin while in ChatGPT to create, review, and send a purchase order to a vendor—without switching tools.
While we are not suggesting that you run right out and connect your clients' QuickBooks files to Claude or ChatGPT for them, especially without discussing it first. Or even connect your own firm's QuickBooks file(s) to ChatGPT or Claude, we are going to take this opportunity to step you through the connection process.
If you are already connected to Claude or ChatGPT from your QuickBooks there are no extra steps or setup that's required to start using the new functionality.
Connecting QuickBooks to Claude takes just three steps.
As accountants guide clients toward smarter tech stacks, integrations like this give firms a playbook for helping businesses eliminate friction and accelerate cash flow.
