Automating Lease Procedures Inside the Audit Workf

Written by The Publisher and Editors of Insightful Accountant | Aug 14, 2026, 4:30:00 AM

Crunchafi, a leader in SaaS technology for accounting and financial professionals, today announces a joint webinar with Thomson Reuters focused on how CPA firms can use automation to simplify complex lease procedures and reduce manual work during the audit. The live session, “Automate Lease Procedures Inside Thomson Reuters Guided Assurance,” will take place on August 18, 2026, at 1 p.m. CDT.

Lease accounting is one of the most time-consuming, judgment-heavy areas of an audit, often requiring teams to navigate source contracts, spreadsheets, calculations and supporting documentation. Jess Vento, senior director of solutions engineering, education & support at Crunchafi, and Stuart Cobbe, head of product for audit at Thomson Reuters, will explore how automation can reduce that manual work and create a more efficient, connected audit process. Using Crunchafi and Thomson Reuters Guided Assurance as a practical example, they’ll show how lease procedures can be automated from source contract to audit-ready workpaper, with a short technical segment demonstrating how outputs return to Engagement Manager for review and sign-off. After attending this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how lease procedures can be automated within the Guided Assurance workflow, from source contract through workpaper.

  • See how automated lease outputs, including amortization schedules, journal entries and footnote disclosures, support audit evidence and sign-off.

  • Understand how automating lease procedures enhances a firm’s established audit methodology without replacing it.

  • Explore how lease automation fits a firm’s current audit approach without adding a separate tool or process.

“Lease accounting has become a major pressure point in busy season, especially when it sits outside the core audit workflow,” says Vento. “This session is about showing firms a practical way to keep their existing methodology and tools, while automating the heaviest parts of lease accounting so teams can focus on judgment and risk, not spreadsheets.”

Attendees can continue the conversation with Crunchafi at SYNERGY, Thomson Reuters’ annual user conference this November, where the team will demonstrate the lease automation workflow and discuss firm-specific use cases.
